Scaffold roofing clamps

You can buy pressed steel roofing clamps from our store, which are designed to securely attach corrugated metal roofing sheets to 48.3mm diameter scaffolding poles. Primarily used for constructing temporary roofs or tin hats, these couplers can also be utilised in specific semi-permanent structures where scaffolding provides the framework.

Roof clamps, which are also known as wriggleys, waffles, CI sheet couplers or roofing couplers, typically weigh about 1kg each and measure approximately 200mm long. They feature a unique design with two clamps on either side that grip and secure the tin sheets to scaffold tubes using a nut and bolt. The coupler’s body has a corrugated pattern that fits snugly within the grooves of corrugated iron roofing sheets.

You can also purchase other scaffolding materials, including aluminium tubes and scaffold beams, to build your temporary structure.

Description

What is a roofing clamp?

Roofing couplers are essential metal fittings used in scaffolding construction to securely fasten corrugated iron sheets to steel scaffold tubes, forming the roof of a tin hat structure.

Purpose: They provide a robust and stable connection, ensuring the secure attachment of roofing sheets to the scaffold frame on a temporary roof.

Function: Roofing clamps feature a clamping mechanism that securely attaches the corrugated sheets to scaffold tubes.

Overall length: approximately 200mm.

Height: approximately 60mm.

The centre section of the roofing coupler features a 3-inch corrugation to match and mould to the shape of the corrugated roofing sheet, and it holds 48.3mm scaffold poles.

This coupler weighs approximately 1kg.

These fittings are made from pressed galvanised steel.

All of our roofing couplers comply with BS1139 and EN74 standards.

Two roofing clamps should be used for each corrugated metal roof sheet to ensure secure attachment.

Roof couplers are essential for securing the roofing sheets to the scaffold; however, their primary function is NOT to support the structural loads of the temporary roof.

The following steps outline the typical connection process for roofing couplers:

  1. The roofing clamp is designed to be inserted through a horizontal tube that forms part of the scaffold frame.
  2. You then securely tighten the coupler onto the scaffold tube.
  3. The corrugated iron sheet is then carefully positioned and aligned on the corrugated section of the coupler.
  4. Attach the second coupler to the other end of the sheet, following the same process.
  5. Repeat this process for each sheet to create a continuous roof covering.

These steps are just a guide; only qualified scaffolders should install them on a temporary roof structure.
