The aluminium tubing we sell is a lightweight, versatile, hollow, round metal tube commonly used in the scaffolding, construction and events industries. It offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, making it easy to handle, install, and transport. Our alloy scaffold tubes are available in lengths of 6.0m, with a diameter of 48.3mm and a thickness of 4mm. They can be connected using standard steel scaffolding fittings or Q Clamps.

Aluminium tubing is a round, lightweight, hollow pipe made from alloy metal. Its versatility makes it useful in diverse tubular applications, such as scaffolding, construction, aerospace, and the automotive industries.

Aluminium scaffold tubes, while not designed for primary structural support or load-bearing applications, excel in providing safety and support for secondary elements:

Construction: Primarily used for non-structural scaffolding components like handrails, guardrails, and edge protection on roofs and scaffolding structures. It is critical to reiterate that these tubes should never be used for the main load-bearing structure of the scaffold itself.

Industrial: Ideal for constructing tubular access platforms for maintenance and inspections around machinery, as well as components of fall protection systems.

Events: Frequently employed in temporary tubular structures for concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and markets. Typical uses include staging, lighting rigs, safety rails, signage frameworks, and display stands.

Commercial: Used in retail and other commercial settings for tubular stair handrails, shopping trolley bays, guardrails for walkways (especially sloped areas), advertising stands, carports, and lightweight racking or shelving.

Steel scaffold poles possess significantly greater strength, up to three times that of aluminium tubes. However, the reduced risk of injury associated with aluminium metal makes it a more appropriate choice for public settings.

A lightweight aluminium tube weighs approximately 1 third of galvanised steel tubing, making it easier to lift and manoeuvre. Alloy tubes are a lighter option for handrails or edge protection, especially at higher levels, as they are much easier to raise than steel. Galvanised tubes have a tensile and yield strength far more significant than an alloy tube, making them better suited for weight-bearing tubular structures.

Aluminum is a metal characterised by a desirable combination of properties. Its low density is approximately one-third that of steel, making it suitable for weight-critical applications. The formation of a passive oxide layer confers excellent corrosion resistance. High thermal and electrical conductivity enables its use in electrical and thermal management systems. Good malleability and ductility facilitate forming a strong material that does not deform. The fact that this lightweight material is 100% recyclable without loss of quality is a significant advantage. Additional characteristics include non-magnetic behaviour, non-toxicity, and high reflectivity.

Aluminium scaffold tubes are typically joined using purpose-built components. The most common connection methods are:

Sleeve couplers or joint pins connect two tubes end-to-end, extending their length or height. Expanding joint pins fit inside the tube ends, whereas sleeve couplers fix to the outside of 2 tubes end to end.

Double couplers connect two lightweight aluminium tubes at a 90-degree angle, creating corners or joining horizontal and vertical members.

Swivel couplers enable connections at diagonal angles, adding flexibility to the structure configuration.
